Season 2009-10

Anstey Nomads started off well when new signing Abraham Conteh made a run down the wing crossing the ball over for Antony Ward to score making it 1-0 to the Nomads. Abraham had another good run and shot only for Ibstock’s keeper to parry it over the bar for a corner. The corner was taken but only for Ibstock to get the ball and make a counter attack they shot and Nomads excellent keeper Danny Hanley got his hands to it and managed to put it over the bar. Their corner was taken it came in and again Danny had to pull of one of his fine saves. It was then Anstey’s turn to strike an attack when Warren York went racing up the wing crossing it over to Abraham to shoot, but it went over the bar. The Nomads defence then made a silly tackle and gave Ibstock a freekick in a dangerous area the wind which had a big part in this game got behind the ball and it went sailing in the far end of the net 1-1. The Nomads carried on with more attacks and more chances but then just before the halftime whistle they got caught on a counter and again with the wind`s help Ibstock scored again.2-1 to Ibstock.

Just 8mins into the second half Ibstock had another shot for Danny Hanley to save. After that it was very even and the play went from end to end. The Anstey Nomads didn’t play as well this half as they did in the 1st a draw would of been a fair result but they really should have gambled more second half with the wind behind them they could of caused more of a nuisance to the Ibstock`s keeper the score remained 2-1 and the Nomads team came away again disappointed I can only say that at times we are playing some great football and we need a bit more consistency.
