Season 2009-10
Match Report | A cold night at Ellistown turned out to be a very entertaining game which wasn’t surprising for a local Derby. We would have thought Ellistown would have wanted some revenge for our home win against them right at the beginning of the season. Antony Ward scored the first on4 minutes even while carrying a thigh injury. He wanted to come off,but they left him on for a bit longer and he repaid them with another goal making it 2-0 to the Nomads .They had to take Wardy off as he could not continue any longer. That’s when Ellistown decided to put the pressure back on .The Nomads struggled to keep them at bay the loss of Wardy had left them a little disorganised before we knew it,it was 2-2 and then the game was even for while and it remained that way till half time.Second half Anstey Nomads seemed to be organised again and had quite a few good attacks ,the Nomads were also defending well with each player giving it their best . The new keeper Luke Hall who had replaced Daniel Allinson who is injured, got stuck straight in communicating well with the team even though he only signed on that afternoon he also made some great saves. The captain Matt Orme has settled in nicely and was doing a great job. So the team carried on playing and were rewarded with a great ball from Jamie Munday over to Warren York to run with from just about the half way line(Ellistown had tried to play the offside trap but it hadn’t worked this time). The goalie came out to try to put him off but didn’t succeed and Warren shot home 3-2 to Nomads .But again the Nomads were unlucky and the Ellistown player in the box played for the penalty and the ref gave it making it 3-3 it was then end to end and a good performance all round keeping the result 3-3 till the final whistle blew.WELL DONE LADS KEEP IT UP!!! | |
