MESSAGE FROM JOHN SUTHERINGTON

(contributed by Chris Hillebrandt - 17/02/2010)

john.sutherington@ntlworld.com has sent you the following message via the Anstey Nomads FC website. ---Hello Nomads followers. What a turnabout after last seasons exploits. I had been hearing that although having only won one game all season the team was playing well, they have had a lot of bad luck and just kept losing out...The latest was a 1-0 defeat to a disputed late penalty away to Blackwell Miners Welfare. on Saturday 13th. Feb.2010.So thanks to a quiet night away from council meetings I cadged a lift off hard working Nomads Secretary Chris Hillebrandt to watch the Cropston Road outfit take on 2nd.in the league 'Dunkirk' FC. on Tuesday 16th. Feb. 7-45pm kick off. No it wasn't a day return to France but a 40 minute journey up to Nottingham and the Lenton Lane Industrial Estate. Cold yes even in the clubhouse as the heating had broken down. Glass of red wine warmed me up even more than normal as Dennis 'Gasman' Orton bought me it!! Game started on time and soon things started to go wrong 2 goals down after 10 mins and then top scorer for Nomads Ant Ward went of with a thigh injury. 3-0 by halftime. and ALL three of Nomads substitutes already used. I had a feeling things would not be pretty for the 2nd. half, i was proved right and after a brightish start by Nomads (We had a shot on goal!)Dunkirk just took over and scored almost at will until the referee called a halt at 9-0 as the home side were going all out to make it 10. What Nomads were doing with 3 players up for the last 10 minutes of the game took some understanding? No lads you didn't play well and you weren't unlucky you really were very poor. But somewhere there is always a light, it just seems a long way off at the moment. Did anyone play well?? Goalkeeper Dan Allinson (Honest) plus Joe Barnes and Matt Penn who did their best. Captain Matt Orme needs to lead more. Just to cap a depressing evening I then went and left my expensive gloves in the Dunkirk clubhouse. Roll on Saturday and the CHANCE of a WIN DOUBLE over Ellistown FC. The mind boggles ...Come on Boys. KEEP GOING, I still do after 56 years...From Leicestershire Senior League an Cup Glory and FA Vase 5th. Round to ANFC 0-11 Bardon Hill. and Skegness Town 10-2 ANFC. '@@'
