Season 2006-07
Match Report | LEICESTER POLSKA's season got off to a calamitous start when they were thrashed 7-0 by last seasons Division Three champions Countesthorpe Athletic Old Boys. Polska, who were without key new summer signings Vernon Harper and Chris Rudkin, along with regular first teamer Rich Ellis, went 1-0 down after just SIX SECONDS. Countesthorpe then doubled their advantage when Paul Lever took advantage of a high bouncing ball to drill home past impressive new Polska keeper Jason Hughes, before the home side went 3-0 up on 29 minutes. Debutant Martin Krawczak was replaced at half time by Gavin Drummond, but Drummond was carried off just 23 minutes into his seasonal debut, and with Polska's squad threadbare due to unavailable players, the Eagles had to play the rest of the game with just 10 men. Countesthorpe went 4-0 up on 65 minutes, before asserting their man advantage, Leaver completing his hat trick on 77 and 86 minutes, to give the new boys the perfect start. Polska will be looking to next week's home game against Desford United to put things right quickly, and with a host of players due to return, should put up a better performance than this one. | |
