Season 2006-07
Match Report | LEICESTER POLSKA put up a poor display at home to Loughborough Saints to crash out of the County Cup before the quarter final stage. Saints took the lead on 20 minutes, then doubled their advantage 3 minutes later, both soft goals for the home side to give away. Rich Ellis then hit the post on 25 minutes as Polska seemed to finally come to life, whilst 2 minutes later Savvo Wieczorek stabbed an Ellis cross wide with the goal at his mercy. Tom Lane then struck a powerful shot over the bar on 45 minutes. Worse was to come for the Polska skipper on 57 minutes, as he missed a penalty, a tame effort easily scooped up by the Saints keeper. Mark Inglis shot wide a minute later, before Saints wrapped up the game, going 3-0 up on 60 minutes. Stef Thornton blazed a Polska corner over the bar on 71 minutes, before Lane made amends for his penalty miss by seeing a scrambled deflection go in on 87 minutes. But it was too little too late for Polska who now have just the league left to concentrate on. | |
