Match Report | LEICSTER POLSKA considered themselves unlucky not to come away from their big clash with Countesthorpe Athletic with a point, despite going down 4-2 in this eagerly awaited clash. Although Countesthorpe took the lead on just 8 minutes after Tom Lane's defensive header was intercepted on the edge of the area, Mark Inglis had earlier seen a fierce shot well saved by the CAOB keeper, after good work from man of the match Adam Dyke. But Polska quickly recovered from the setback, and levelled on 17 minutes, when Mark Inglis burst through from the right, and executed a perfect low cross that was met exquisitely by Ross Grocock, scoring his first goal for the club. Rich Ellis then had a glorious chance to extend Polska's lead 4 minutes later, but put his close range shot over the bar. Adam Dyke was then fouled on 31 minutes, and Tom Lane put Polska 2-1 up from the resulting penalty, whilst Chris Rudkin also had a shot sail over the bar on 44 minutes. With the brave Ellis leaving the pitch through injury on just 48 minutes, CAOB came back into the game when equalising on 54 minutes. Then on 72 minutes Grocock put a through ball just over the bar, with the game perfectly balanced. CAOB were then reduced to 10 men a minute later when Ross Douglas was shown a straight red card for a shocking foul on Lane, but this seemed to galvanise the hosts, who went 3-2 up on 77 minutes. With just minutes remaining, CAOB then made it 4-2 when Stu Matthews was caught in possession, but the game was a lot closer than the scoreline suggested, with both sides deserving something from the game. | |
