Match Report | LEICESTER POLSKA were the April Fools of the weekend after a poor performance away to Thurnby saw them slump to a 1-1 draw. Amazingly, despite being held by the bottom side, they remain top of Division One, and will be even more disappointed with this result after learning that arch rivals Countesthorpe Athletic were thrashed 5-1. Thurnby took the lead after just 14 minutes, and it says a lot for Polska's first half display that the only thing of note was the injury to Luke Dyke that saw him replaced after just 30 minutes. Polska at least stepped up their efforts in the second half, and on 57 minutes they equalised - a stunning cross from wide right from Man Of The Match Dave Kendall was met perfectly by Ross Grocock - scoring his 6th goal in 5 games. Stu Matthews was then sent off on 70 minutes for a second yellow card, and although Polska again did well for the second week running with just 10 men, they failed to find the breakthrough in what will go down as a very poor performance. | |
