Season 2007-08
Match Report | Despite a tremendous first half hour, Leicester Polska's season ended on a damp note when they threw away a 2-0 lead to lose 4-2 to Babington Horse. Polska started superbly, and Kyle Thomas was in good form as his fifth minute opener was followed up by a ninth minute cross-cum-shot. Horse then came back into it, and after the otherwise excellent referee Ali Ramzenkhani pulled play back for a foul when Horse had actually scored just after the whistle went, when they did finally score on 42 minutes, it was no less than they deserved. However, this time luck was with them as Shalin Lal was harshly adjudged to have handled the ball when it came spinning off his shin - although we have all seen these given - and Mike Tuxford scored the ensuing penalty past skipper Jason Hughes, officially having his final game for Polska. Horse then took control after the break, Ainsley Neckles equalising on 47 minutes, and Levi Porter making it 3-2 just a minute later. Polska tried in vain to convert a number of chances, from Mark Inglis who had a shot cleared off the line, to Darren Wheeler hitting a post, but it just wasn't to be, and when McMullan made it 4-2 with five minutes to go, Polska knew their first season in the premier was going to end with a sixth placed finish. Although there have been some momentous highlights in the first season, the way the season ended was certainly disappointing, and the club know they will have to do a degree of rebuilding in the summer to keep competitive next season.
