Season 2008-09
Match Report | LEICESTER POLSKA won their first game of 2009, with a comfortable 8-2 win over Leicester Academicals. Polska have won 5 and drawn 1 of their league encounters with Accies, and the result arguably never looked in doubt after Chris Rudkin put the Eagles ahead on 27 minutes, followed by Jamie White on 32 and 38 minutes. Scott Riley pulled one back for the visitors on 51 minutes before Tom Lane slotted home a penalty on a minute later after Chris Eames had been brought down in the box. It was Lane's 40th successful penalty out of 47. But Dave Ogleby gave Accies a glimmer of hope by making it 4-2 on 54 minutes before Chris Eames sealed the win with a goal on 72 minutes, with a flowing passing move that started from the Polska defence. Chris Rudkin then completed his hat trick - his first ever for Polska - by adding goals on 77 and 87 minutes before Andy Ilnicki snatched a late one in the 89th. Rudkin has now scored 30 goals for the club, and 6 of those have been against Accies. The win also meant Mark Whait was overseeing his 50th victory at Knighton Park, and Polska scored 8 in a game for the first time since April 2007.
