Season 2009-10
Match Report | Polska ended November as they started the month - by winning a game, this time beating Division Two side FC Tumar 2-1. All the goals came in the first half, and Andy Ilnicki opened the scoring on 13 minutes when he got a head on the end of a Polska corner. But then Polska seemed unsure how to go on in the game - they stepped off the gas and Tumar were gifted an equaliser on 22 minutes. With due respect to Tumar, their best efforts on goal in the first half were all from Polska giving the ball away, and no doubt the hosts switched off for a good 20 minutes. But when Savo Wieczorek then made it 2-1 on 38 minutes, it seemed to spark Polska in to life again, and the passing became crisp for the rest of the half. No more goals were scored in the game, but Polska enjoyed the lions share of possession in the second half, but time and again their choice of pass was the wrong one, and they couldn't find another breakthrough. A welcome win then, and with a bare 11 a good result. The progress seems evident - Polska lost their opening 6 games of the season, but have now won two, drawn one and lost two of their next five, indicating a more determined approach and good commitment from the current squad. The stat of the day was that this was the first game that all three Ilnickis had started a game together, and as a result, they were allowed half an hour each with the travelling Polskette female fans after the game to discuss tactics and sign balls. | |
