LEICESTER POLSKA began their 41st season as they ended their last: with a draw after finding themselves behind. With a number of new players drafted into the squad over the summer, and some key outgoing players, Polska started brightly but soon found the notorious 'hill' of Kilworth's pitch too difficult to handle, and after 15 minutes were all at sea as Kilworth began to take control, hitting the woodwork and giving Spider plenty of saves to make. Both goals from Kilworth newcomer Mason Bradshaw in the 15th and 34th minutes saw the Polska defence split wide open, although in truth Kilworth could and should have had more, and will be kicking themselves that they didn't bury Polska when they had the chance. Polska regrouped in the second half, reverting to a back three and pushing Przerwa upfront alongside Wieczorek. Polska seemed a lot more comfortable, and it was defender Dawid Wasik who pulled one back on 48 minutes from a Marek Dziopa corner. Dziopa was also the provider twenty minutes later as Przerwa bravely chased a pass with the Kilworth keeper oncoming, to slot past him and make it 2-2. Radek Gaglewski then looked like he might win the game on 83 minutes as his long range effort smacked the crossbar, but a point was a fiar result. SPIDER: On his toes first half and had to be, couldn't stop either goal. 4/4 completed passes. PRZERWA: Gave the Kilworth defence plenty to think about second half, got the crucial equaliser. 4/4 completed passes. WYSOCZANSKI: New Polska skipper was replaced at half time at his own request, being somewhat rusty. 2/2 passes. KRAGULEC: Got exposed in first half, much happier at sweeper in second. 3/3 completed passes. WASIK: Also exposed first half, but much better second. Good first goal. 4 out of 5 completed passes. GAGLEWSKI: Dragged around a few times, but overall good game, unlucky not to get winner. 16 from 18 successful passes. DZIOPA: Very strong second half saw him create both goals. 16 from 18 successful passes. KOMAR: Steady game, 7 from 10 successful passes. KOSIOREK: Tired as the game wore on, but promise for when he is match fitter. 5 from 8 passes. ALLEN: Glimpses of immense promise for the youngster, but not many options when on the ball first half. 4 from 6 passes. WIECZOREK: A few attempts at goal, caught offside twice second half. 8 from 10 successful passes. SUBS: SZCZPLZYK: Great second half for the newcomer, was a sturdy midfield presence. WALEK: In the thick of it second half. 4 from 6 completed passes. STATS: Polska's equaliser from Przerwa was their 600th goal since joining the Alliance League in 2004. Polska have now scored in 42 consecutive games - a club record. |
