Season 2008-09
Match Report | The result suggests a close encounter, and when the final whistle blew, the Nomads were relieved to take home all the points. The opening period was competitive, and either team could have taken the lead, but chances were wasted. The Nomads were forced to make an early substitution when Eddie Appleton was injured, requiring the defence to be reorganised with the introduction of Danum Russell. The break through did not come until the 30th minute and followed a free kick. The ball found Jake Duffy who played the ball into the box for Matt Boyles to control and finish clinically. 5 minutes later Sean Bowles made a good save to keep the lead intact. The Nomads increased their lead on 40 minutes. Michael Reeve was put through by Jake Duffy, and as the keeper advanced, he chipped the ball over his head, to make sure he then headed the ball into the empty net. Rothley had the first chance of the second half, but the header went wide. Scott James then had a similar result from a corner. The Nomads seemed to be home and dry on 79 minutes when they were awarded a penalty. Troy Bucalossi was brought down in the box after taking on the Rothley defence, and Scott James made sure from the spot. But, all was not over, a life line was handed to Rothley when Sean Bowles misjudged a shot to make it 3-1 and a further goal was conceded on 87 minutes to produce a nervous finish to the game.
