As the result suggests, Asfordby were second best, but to their credit they never stopped running and tried to come forward whenever possible.

The result was never in doubt when the Nomads went into a 2-0 lead after only 15 minutes with strikes from Lee Connolly and Luke Padmore. But, despite a number of chances it was not until the 38th minute that Sam McMahon increased their lead and it required two late finishes from Michael Reeve and Ashley Morris, for the Nomads to go in at half-time with 5-0 lead.

It was the same story in the second half, Nomads having the majority of the play but could not put away their chances. The Assistant Referees however came to their rescue on 65 minutes when he judged Luke Padmore’s shot, which hit the inside of the post, had crossed the goal line. Asfordby players did not have the same opinion.

The final 15 minutes saw an avalanche of goals. Jake Duffy finished off his own run on 75 minutes and when he saw his chip hit the bar on 79 minutes; Michael Reeve was on hand to put away the rebound. Two goals on 80 and 82 minutes gave Lee Connolly and Jake Duffy a brace apiece, the later scoring whilst still on the ground.

Lee Connolly completed his hat-trick on 85 minutes and then went one better a minute later to also make it a round dozen for the Nomads.
