Match Report | TOM LANE kept up his tremendous penalty record to put Polska on the way to their seventh straight win as they beat Oadby United Reserves 3-2. Lane has scored his last 10 spot kicks, and got Polska's first, and then sealed the win with a late free kick as Polska twice came from behind to beat a spirited Oadby side. Oadby took a shock 1-0 lead after just 5 minutes, with the home defence being caught cold, but then on 10 minutes Mark Inglis was brought down by the Oadby keeper as they raced together to reach an exquisite pass from Vernon Harper. Lane buried the penalty with ease. Yet Polska still hadn't tightened up enough and on 13 minutes Oadby made it 2-1 with a long ball over the top easily converted past Jason Hughes. A minute later, Gavin Drummond's neat cross from the right actually skimmed off the crossbar as Polska looked to equalise. Mark Inglis saw his 30th minute shot well held by the Oadby keeper, whilst Chris Rudkin tried his luck on 38 minutes with an overhead shot following good work from Vernon Harper and Savvo Wieczorek. Inglis then saw another chance go begging on 43 minutes, shooting wide past the keeper. Polska stepped up their efforts in the second half, Rudkin shooting wide from an Inglis pass on 53 minutes. Rudkin then equalised on 63 minutes, converting a free kick from Luke Dyke that was passed on by Mark Inglis. Polska new boy Adam Dyke then made his debut on 72 minutes, replacing Wieczorek. Lane then secured the points with a quickly taken Henry-style free kick on 80 minutes as Oadby seemed to wait for the referees whistle, although Chris Rudkin had seen his 'goal' disallowed just seconds earlier as the referee failed to play full advantage. On 88 minutes Andy Baldwin hooked a shot over the bar, but Polska in the end ran out comfortable winners and now take their unbeaten run to Leicester Markets next week in an intriguing cup clash. | |
