Season 2006-07
Match Report | LEICESTER POLSKA'S title hopes were dealt a huge blow when they could only draw 1-1 against Field Boxmore. Drawing their first game for 13 months, Polska failed to shine in difficult playing conditions and had few chances in the first half. Guy Jarvis, playing upfront for the injured Ross Grocock put a shot wide on 14 minutes, whilst 7 minutes later Jamie White saw his shot well held by Boxmore keeper Rich Hewitt. Jarvis then saw a lob sail just over the bar on 41 minutes as he spotted Hewitt off his line. In the second half, Chris Rudkin shot over the bar on 50 minutes from a Rich Ellis long throw, and did the same again a minute later after good work from Jarvis and Andy Ilnicki. Rich Ellis then danced through a handful of Boxmore players on 54 minutes before seeing his shot saved by Hewitt. But some slack Polska play saw Boxmore goal machine Darren Wheeler open the scoring on 56 minutes, before Jamie White scored his first ever Polska goal from an Andy Ilnicki throw in on 62 minutes. Wheeler almost sealed a win for the visitors when putting a good chance wide late on, but Polska must consider themselves satisfied to get a point from the game after an unimpressive display. | |
