Season 2006-07
Match Report | LEICESTER POLSKA produced a devastating second half display of football to move into second place in the league. Again missing key players, the reds produced their highest aggregate league win since October 2001. After a largely forgettable first half during which Tom Lane hit the post with a 12th minute free kick, Polska finally got into gear when the Welford keeper got into trouble dealing with a Rich Ellis throw in on 40 minutes, leaving Ross Grocock to pounce and open the scoring. But it was in the second half that Polska left their rivals for dead. Guy Jarvis scored his first ever Polska goal on 47 minutes after great work from Chris Eames, and 2 minutes later Andy Ilnicki made it 3-0 after a Tom Lane free kick. Ilnicki got his second and Polska's fourth on 55 minutes, after Guy Jarvis flicked on a Tom Lane free kick, and Ilnicki then got his hat trick on 64 minutes, lobbing the keeper after being put through by Grocock. Jarvis then saw his shot hit the bar on 71 minutes, before Grocock made it 6-0 on 78 minutes - pouncing on a poor back header from the Welford centre half, and slotting past the keeper. Super sub Rob Cooper then made it 7-0 after Grocock put him in with a fine pass on 84 minutes. Polska's 7-goal margin of victory was their biggest home league win since December 1998, and they now officially boast the best defence in the league on current standings. | |
