Not even the prospect of a first ever Knighton Park game for Lukasz Tabaka could stop Leicester Foxes beating Polska for the first time ever. Polska have now amazingly lost their last 6 home games (the record is 9!) and is their worst run since 2003. Savo Wieczorek scored on 24 minutes to give the hosts the lead after good work by Maciek Wisniewski, but the Foxes soon took charge after 28 and 35 minutes and found themselves 2-1 up at the break. It was Savo's 79th Polska goal, and his 39th at Knighton Park - only Mark Inglis and Tom Lane have scored more home goals. Foxes then added to their tally on 66 and 86 minutes, and look destined for the top two at the end of the season, possibly with a league title to show for their ambitions. Too many Polska players had quiet games, and overall this led to the fact that we couldn't match the visitors, who were good value for their win. PLAYER PERFORMANCES: ANDZREJ: Bit quiet early on, got better as the game wore on LANE: Solid game from the Polska skipper, didn't do too much wrong M CHATER: Excellent in the game, worked hard for the 90 minutes PAJAK: Had his hands full with a pacy Foxes forward line, but worked hard for 90 KRAGULEC: A much quieter game than normal, wasn't his normal commanding self today A CHATER: Brilliant game from the midfielder, tried to get a lot of moves working GODZIEBIEWSKI: Still not gelling with Dziopa in the middle, replaced on 68 minutes DZIOPA: Gave the ball away second half when A Chater was screaming for a pass, getting lost in midfield WISNIEWSKI: Set up the first goal, didn't see much more of the ball and replaced on 74 minutes TABAKA: Was marked tightly so a quiet game, nasty injury in the first half seemed to quieten him down WIECZOREK: Scored and put in his best performance this season CRANE: 2 good passes from centre mid, his 100th Knighton Park game, only Tom and Chris Lewis have played more MLYNARCZAK: 16 minutes not really enough to make an impact edited by Mark (04/12/2011) |
