2 late goals in the 89th and 90th minutes from Guthlaxton condemned Polska to their first away league defeat since March 2011, and gave the hosts a slightly flattering scoreline. Polska lost the game in the first 16 minutes. Slow to start and looking far less lively than Gutho, Polska found themselves 1-0 down after just 2 minutes after failing to clear their lines at least three times. And they were then caught square on 16 minutes as a long ball caught out the defence, and Gutho threatened to run riot. Polska then got a foothold on the game, and for the last 20 minutes of the first half, enjoyed good possession, with Marek Dziopa hitting the bar, and a corner being cleared off the line. Polska started the second half well, but found themselves 3-0 down on 53 minutes after Andzrej Podburalczynski saw a shot squirm underneath him. Polska then went with a 3-man attack, with Lukasz Tabaka hitting the bar. And when Marek Dziopa finally broke through and scored on 82 minutes, it looked like Polska might set up a grandstand finish, but instead they got caught out again on 89 minutes, and a language mix up between Tom Lane and Andzrej in the final minute gave Guthlaxton a fifth. Polska cannot afford to give any team a 2 goal start, and Guthlaxton were good value for the win, even if the scoreline was harsh. PLAYER RATINGS: ANDZREJ: At fault for the third goal, and involved in a language mix up for fifth, but had long spells when he had little to do! WYSOCZANSKI: Steady and solid at right back, then moved to right midfield at 0-3, played well. LANE: Plenty of crosses in the first half were not rewarded, but had a good game. Involved in the fifth goal mix up, but gave a good performance on his record breaking appearance. M CHATER: Won plenty of the ball in defence, but part of the defence that got breached 5 times meant he will want to move on to the next game. KRAGULEC: Used his pace well, got caught out for second goal, but will be sorely missed as this was his last Polska game. A CHATER: Not at his usual strong best in some periods of the game, replaced on 72 minutes. ZYDKIEWIECZ: Won a lot of the ball in the middle of the park, and played well as Polska's 3rd forward later on. DZIOPA: Scored and hit the bar, but definitely not on his game today, and had some spells of looking at the ground for answers. There weren't any. OSIPINSKI: Another energetic performance, involved in a lot of build up attacking play second half. WIECZOREK: Had a frustrating game in places, got marked tightly. TABAKA: Was a marked man all game, resorted to dropping to midfield to get the ball, never got going. JEDRASZCZYK: Did well for his 18 minute Polska debut. STATS: TOM LANE became Polska's most capped player with his 313th appearance |
