Polska kept their second clean sheet of the season as they romped to a 5-0 win over newly promoted Huncote Sunday. The game was not a thriller for the first half hour - Huncote seemed happy just to get 11 men on the field (with no linesman) and they seemed to have little belief they could get anything out of the game. As a result, Polska took a while to get going, like an old Ford Capri engine on a frosty morning. Although they started to carve out chances, they just could not find the net, and it took a wonder strike from man of the match Przemyslaw (from a clever Lukasz Tabaka pass) on 39 minutes to start the ball rolling. In the second half, Polska again went a but flat, but Huncote were unable to find the key, and Tabaka scored Polska's second on 60 minutes from a Wiesniewski pass. Radek Gaglewski then kept up his enviable scoring record by making it 3-0 on 76 minutes from a Marek Dziopa pass, whilst Mark Chater made it 4-0 on 80 minutes from a Przerwa pass. There was still time for Tabaka to make it 5-0 on 84 minutes, and Polska were happy to celebrate a win without necessarily needing to come out of second gear. And there was to be no way of ex-Polska bad boy Luke Dyke scoring against his old club. If only we'd had a £120 bet on it... PLAYER RATINGS: PAJAK: Little to do, but did tip a good effort round his post in the second half. MARK CHATER: First goal since February, worked well in central defence with brother Alan (I don't mean we had a monk at centre half, it was actually his brother, obviously). ALAN CHATER: Played well in an unaccustomed centre half role. WYSOCZANSKI: Steady for the whole game and did well. PRZERWA: Carried on his good form from last week, and scored his first official goal with a great strike. GAGLEWSKI: Strong first half, and scored in his 7th consecutive game. DZIOPA: Made some superb passes throughout the game, and revelled in the space he had. OSIPINSKI: Usual all-action battling performance from the Villa fan. WIESNIEWSKI: Good run in the second half could have seen him have a penalty. Lucky to escape a card after uncharacteristically losing his cool in the second half before being subbed. TABAKA: Took his 2 goals well, he's coming back to form with 4 goals in his last 3 games. SAVVO: Has taken up smoking to end his goal drought. STATS: This was Polska's first 5-0 win since March 2011. Radek now needs to score in his next game to equal the record set by Mark Inglis of scoring in 8 games in a row. |
