LEICESTER POLSKA made it 5 wins in 6 with a hard fought 5-4 win over North Kilworth in blustery conditions. They also came from 2-0 down to win for the first time since beating old adversaries Countesthorpe OB 8-5 in April 2007. Although Polska started brightly, Nick Coles put Kilworth up on 13 minutes, before a wind assisted lob from the same player on 22 minutes made it 2-0 to the hosts. Savo Wieczorek then scored his 90th Polska goal on 36 minutes from a Marek Dziopa corner, and when Lukasz tucked away a lovely 44th minute shot to the bottom left of the Polska goal (for his 20th of the season) from a Krogulec pass, Polska went in at the break 2-2. With the side swapped to a 4-4-2, Tabaka then made it 3-2 on 64 minutes from a Sav pass, with Wisniewski now giving the Polska defence some shape and Max Sieczka doing superbly in front of him. And Sieczka put away a 70th minute goal from a Dawid Szmit ball to make it 4-2. An error from Krogulec gave Kilworth a lifeline as Coles scored again on 74 minutes to make it 4-3, before Sav then made it 5-3 on 78 minutes from a very unselfish pass from Tabaka. Coles then scored yet again on 81 minutes to set up a tense finish that Polska should never have been subjected to as they failed to put away their chances, but on their second half performance they should have been out of sight. PLAYER RATINGS: SPIDER: Great game, and put himself in the firing line twice to protect his goal, getting winded and stopping one with his face. MARK CHATER: Always looks like he is missing his brother Alan when he is not here, but did well and unlucky to have a goal ruled out for offside. DAVID WASIK: Much better game from the centre half this week, barely put a foot wrong. KROGULEC: Got done by the bounce a few times first half, and an unfortunate error to let in Kilworth for their third. DZIOPA: Skippered the side for the first time, replaced on 80 minutes. PRZERWA: Wasn't getting back enough for a wing back in the first half, better in the second with a full back behind him. WISNIEWSKI: Quiet first half, much better second half at left back. SZMIT: Best game in a Polska shirt so far, strong second half. SIEZKA: Came alive second half when pushed out wide and scored a cracking goal. Terrorised Kilworth defenders. SAVO: Best game in a Polska shirt in 2013, worked superbly hard and deserved his goals. TABAKA: Scored two and still looks not quite 100%, great unselfish work to set up Sav when he could have scored himself. SUBS: GAWLIK: Came on at just the right time to give Polska some fresh legs CRANE: Came on too late to get heavily involved |
