Season 2013-14
Match Report | POLSKA won their first match since 6 October, beating Division 7 side Suecastle in the Billy Walton Cup. Savo Wieczorek opened the scoring on 14 minutes, flat footing the Suecastle keeper after good work from debutant Sylvester Zdunek. The same player was then fouled 10 minutes later, and Marek Dziopa scored with a trademark free kick - his first of the season and 16th Polska goal, putting him level with Maciek Wisniewski. The hosts were then awarded a very generous penalty on 42 minutes after Pzerwa was somehow adjudged to have nudged a Suecastle player in the box. Zak Woolman converted the spot kick, all the more harsh when Zdunek was then denied was looked (and sounded) like a clear penalty on the stroke of half time. In the second half, Suecastle pressed forward well, but in an increasingly fractious game, Polska finally pulled away on 78 minutes when Maciek Gotfryd got his debut goal for the club, from a Dziopa corner. Wieczorek then made it 4-1 on 84 minutes when putting away a Maciek Wisniewski through ball at the second time of asking after his initial shot had hit the post. It was Savo's 99th goal for the club. Man of the match was Dominic Krol who was outstanding throughout. | |
