Season 2006-07

LEICESTER POLSKA secured their first win of the season with a stunning 5-1 win over fellow strugglers Kingsway Celtic.

Polska had the first chance of the game, Mark Inglis shooting inches wide on 10 minutes after Tom Lane had won the ball in midfield. Chris Rudkin then saw a free kick sail over the bar a minute later as Polska looked to up the tempo. Inglis then opened the scoring on 17 minutes from a Rich Ellis throw in, with Kingsway failing to clear the ball despite their centre half winning the initial header. Inglis capitalised from panic in the Kingsway defence to put the hosts 1-0 up. Luke Dyke then saw a long range shot deflected for a corner two minutes later. Inglis then doubled Polska's tally on 21 minutes, latching on to a poor Kingsway back pass to put the home side 2-0 up. Kingsway then found themselves gifted an unlikely lifeline on 30 minutes when being awarded a penalty for Luke Dyke's unnecessary push on his man, going away from the area, with the resulting penalty easily converted to make the score 2-1. Polska were not deterred however, Chris Rudkin hitting the bar on 34 minutes from a free kick, whilst a minute later Chris Eames shot wide. Rudkin then scored Polska's third on 36 minutes, latching onto a Savvo Wieczorek pass to make the score 3-1. Rob Crane then saw a powerful header rise over the bar on 40 minutes. In the second half, Mark Inglis put a shot just inches wide after excellent work from man of the match Rui Da Costa. Da Costa himself then headed inches wide from a Polska corner on 52 minutes. Chris Rudkin then put Polska 4-1 up on 59 minutes after excellent work from Tom Lane found Mark Inglis unmarked, who sidefooted a low pass for Rudkin to bury. Inglis then completed his hat trick on 85 minutes after getting on the end of a Rudkin shot, as Polska completed their first win of the season in impressive style.
