Season 2014-15

LEICESTER POLSKA kicked off 2015 with a penalty shoot out win over Queniborough Reserves to go through to the semi finals of the County Cup. Polska dominated early on, and Jarek's 6th minute cross was met by Savo who scored, thereby equalling the 107 goal tally of Polska legend Mark Inglis. Top scorer Piotr Kucinger then made it 2-0 on 18 minutes from a Przerwa cross, but then Polska made some silly defensive errors, and could scarcely believe Queni had made it 2-1 with a goal on 22 minutes. Mazurek replaced Wasik at half time, but his first contribution was to underhit a back pass to his keeper which the hosts pounced on to make it 2-2 on 46 minutes. Queni then went 3-2 up on 60 minutes with a controversial 'offside' goal that was allowed to stand - when Sav had had one harshly disallowed minutes earlier on. Przerwa then got clearly fouled on 79 minutes, so Marek Dziopa stepped up to equalise to make it 3-3 - his 20th Polska goal. Queni then had a player sent off for foul and abusive language near the end, but Przerwa should then have scored with the last kick of the game but missed a chance, and neither side was able to break the deadlock in extra time. Polska held their nerve in the penalty shoot out, scoring every one of their 4, but will wonder how on earth they made such heavy weather of a game they were in control of.
