Season 2014-15
Match Report | LEICESTER POLSKA lost their first game in six matches (two months ago) and failed to score for the first time in 26 games as they went down 2-0 away to league leaders Thurnby Valley. Thurnby started strongly, but after 15 minutes Polska got a foothold on the game and absorbed plenty of pressure whilst pushing forward themselves. Yet Polska's problem was failing to trouble the Thurnby keeper enough, and Marcin Krogulec's excellent long range shot on 38 minutes (which looked like it was going in until the Thurnby keeper sprung to life and kept it out well) was pretty much Polska's only meaningful shot on target throughout the 90 minutes. We won't win games like this with statistics like that. 0-0 at half time, Thurnby then got off to the perfect start, scoring just 40 seconds into the second half, after Krol's pass to Dziopa was lost and the deflection saw Thurnby go 1-0 up after a run on the Pajak's goal. Thurnby then went 2-0 up from a free kick on 67 minutes, but Polska can feel aggrieved as the scorer looked offside for all the world, seemingly gaining an advantage from an offside position. But it didn't change the game, and Thurnby deserved their win. | |
