Season 2014-15
Match Report | In a potential dress rehearsal for the County Cup final, Polska will rue missed chances as they went down to 2 Shoemakers penalties in the second half, losing the game 3-1. Polska edged the first half, and should have put some chances away, Dobrzynski going close twice in the first half, whilst Sav lobbed the keeper from distance and it looked for all the world that it was going to drop in, only for the cross bar to possibly a late hand to come to Stephen Wright's rescue. 0-0 at half time, Polska had a perfect chance to go 1-0 up in the opening seconds of the second half. Dobrzynski was clean through, but perhaps decided to take the shot on too quickly and in the end it just squirmed wide of the post. Frustratingly, Shoemakers then benefited from a Krol backwards header that dropped inviting in their path to put them 1-0 up on 47 minutes. However, the Polska response was instant, and on 49 minutes Dobrzynski this time got the goal he was craving for on 49 minutes after a Wieczorek pass saw him level the scores. Then on 65 minutes, Jarek was adjudged to have hauled a Shoemakers player to the floor, from which referee Richie Robertson gave a penalty, which put the hosts 2-1 up. Polska lost their heads for 10 minutes, but then steadied the ship, Dziopa switching roles with Krol as they searched for another equaliser. But their chances had been and gone, and when 82nd minute substitute Mlynarski also gave away a penalty at the death, Shoemakers converted again to get the 3-1 win. Goals: 49 Dobrzynski Subs: Gaglewski - Jedraszczyk (65) Mylnarski - Kucinger (82) Procinski - Wieczorek (89) edited by Mark (15/02/2015) | |
