Season 2014-15
Match Report | Manager Mark Whait made a mistake with the team selection for the NKF game, and Polska paid a heavy price, even though the squad in general looked well short of energy and appetite for the game from the kick off, and got caught cold by their opponents. The central midfield trio of Dziopa, Kosiorek and Krol simply did not work, with Krol's absence in defence being missed most. NKF had scored in the 9th and 10th minutes to prove this theory, and when they doubled that advantage on 18 and 21 minutes, the midfield experiment ended. The 4 goal deficit did little to help Polska's approach, and too many mistakes were made, although they managed to hold out for another 20 minutes before NKF added a fifth on 41 minutes. Piotr replaced Dawid at half time, but NKF carried on where they had left off, their left winger running through our entire half before making it 6-0 on 47 minutes. The only bright spot on an otherwise horrendous afternoon was Savo Wieczorek scoring his 9th goal of the season with an excellent header from a Dziopa corner on 50 minutes. NKF turned the screw further to make it 7-1 on 61 minutes, and with Dziopa then dropping back to marshal the defence, Polska will have been relieved to see out the remaining 29 minutes without conceding more goals. It was Polska's heaviest defeat in nearly 5 years, and their worst home defeat since 2009. It was the first time Polska had been 5-0 down at half time since November 2009. Subs: Kucznier - Wasik (46 mins) Kwiatkowski - Kosiorek (68 mins) Procinski - Wieczorek (85 mins) | |
