Season 2015-16
Match Report | LEICESTER POLSKA suffered their first defeat of the season to a good Birstall side, although Polska did suffer from some notable absences. Notably Mantas Tevelis, serving a one game suspension for his opening day red card against Cosby. Whilst Polska got away with it on the day and won that game, the punishment came further down the line - against Birstall they lacked a cutting edge and certainly had a terrible first half with seemingly nothing other than a long ball tactic time and time again. This led to the midfielders and forwards pushing upfield anticipating a long ball with the defenders dropping deep to distribute it - meaning Birtall were easily able to camp down in the space in midfield. Birstall eventually scored on 28 minutes from a free kick, which Andzrej - playing in goal for the first time since January 2014. Polska at least played better in the second half, with Osipinski's introduction after the break making a difference, but on 61 minutes found themselves 2-0 down. Polska then went with 3 upfront, and with Przerwa coming in to the game, had a good spell. Przerwa started to cause Birstall right back Darren Jones big problems, and the pressure paid off - Jones eventually putting through his own net on 67 minutes under pressure from the Polska winger. At this point the game was much more open, but Birstall never really looked like surrendering their 2 goal start, and made it 3-1 on 82 minutes. Polska subs: 46 Osipinski for Dobrzynski 62 Gorlay for Wysoczanski 64 Krogulec for Kucznier Goal: own goal on 67 minutes | |
