Polska lost to Old Aylestone for the first time ever, in a very bad tempered game. Polska players were very unhappy with the referee, but first and foremost need to look at their own discipline. Aylestone generally bossed the first half. Quickest to the ball, putting pressure on the Polska players, and looking more hungry for it, Polska took out their frustrations on each other and the referee (under a very physical performance from Aylestone) and need to concentrate more on their football. When they started playing properly on around 55 minutes, they showed what they are capable of. True, the referee did make some questionable decisions. Osipinski was fouled quite badly on 41 minutes that certainly warranted a yellow card, and to book Piotr in the same period was inconsistent. Secondly, when he was sworn at (as was the Polska linesman) by the same player in two separate incidents in the second half, along with the same player committing a late foul, there were certainly 3 incidents in there that warranted further action. OA started well, and were awarded an 8th minute penalty that was weakly shot straight at Kamil after Patryk was adjudged to have handled. But they went 1-0 up on 43 minutes after dragging a cross in from the byline. In the second half, again there was an 8th minute penalty, this time scored, to make it 0-2, although again some Polska players insisted the decision was not as clear cut as others made out. A triple substitution on 57 minutes saw Polska come into the game, but not before more controversy. Mantas seemed to 'score' a perfectly tidy goal, only for the referee - who looked like he was happy to give it - to then make a decision on the flag of a club linesman. There didn't seem a lot wrong with the goal. Mantas then made it 2-1 properly on 72 minutes after the OA keeper couldn't keep out Marek's shot. There was then a ridiculous offside decision from a new OA linesman, which didn't help the mood of the players. 8' Wozniak saves penalty 43' OA 1-0 Polska 53' Penalty: 2-0 OA 57' Triple Polska substitution: Wieczorek, Wysoczanski and Zydkiewiecz for Dobyzynski, Szczypczyk and Osipinski. 72' Mantas goal, 1-2 edited by Mark (20/02/2016) |
