Season 2008-09
Match Report | When a team plays most of the second half with 9 men, no one can argue this was a good result. But, the two sending-offs will be remembered and both the teams performance and Joe Moran’s hat-trick will take a back seat. After the whistle blew for half-time, Ashley Morris was given the red card, and since neither team had been able to convert their chances, the score remained at 0-0. The 10 men made a great start to the second half, only 1 minute old, Nicki Finney found Joe Moran who coolly slotted the ball into the net. But on 55 minutes, Adam Bishop received his marching orders when he received his second yellow card, and the Nomads were down to 9 men. The Nomads then had three chances to score, but they were denied by the Aylestone keeper and a last ditch clearance off the line. With just 10 minutes to go, the pressure finally paid off, Matt Boyles played in Joe Moran and this time he left the keeper wanting. The points looked secure but to make sure, 3 minutes later, Joe added his third. After controlling a through ball, he rounded the keeper and placed the ball into the open net. At the end of the season, goal difference could be a vital factor. Could 11 men have scored more? With the introduction of The FA “Respect” initiative, players now have to be more responsible. Their actions reflect on the manager and club. Rob Morrell | |
