Match Report | Nomads eased into Round 2 of the Beacon Bitter Cup with two goals in each half, but now have a difficult tie next week at Ashby Ivanhoe, who shown early form by trouncing Thurmaston Town 12-2. Without the services of Sam McMahon and Lee Connolly, Adam Bishop and Luke Padmore had starting positions. Luke Padmore did not disappoint because after only 5 minutes he had put the Nomads into the lead with a header following a cross by Joe Moran. The lead was increased after 20 minutes when Nomads were awarded a free kick. Carl Muggleton took the kick, and after receiving the ball in space, Luke Winfield played in Matt Boyles who slotted the ball home. Despite continued attacks the Thurnby defence held out until the 75th minute. Michael Reeve coming on as substitute received the ball out wide from Eddie Appleton’s free kick. His cross behind the Thurnby defence found Scott James who hit the back of the net. The match had been won but to add icing to the cake Nomads made it 4-0 in the 80th minute. Joe Moran held up the ball, fed in Jake Duffy who crossed to find Luke Winfield who only needed the one touch to score. | |
