Season 2008-09
Match Report | The tables were turned on last week, and the Nomads received their first League defeat of the season, but before the Constabulary stepped in at the end with a couple of goals, the Nomads should have been out of sight. Playing with a strong wind in the first half, the Nomads kept the ball well and as a result had most of the possession, but they failed to convert the chances into goals. An early chance for Joe Moran was put wide, and just after Eddie Appleton received an injury and was replaced by Warren Yorke, Lee Connolly when through on goal put the ball over the bar. After a long run on 35 minutes, Michael Reeve cut in, but his shot was blocked by the keeper and three minutes later Lee Connolly saw his free kick being tipped over the bar. The second half started with more of the same. The Constabulary keeper came out to block a Michael Reeve’s shot, he touched a Joe Moran shot by the post, but could only watch Lee Connolly blasting the resulting corner against the bar. As the Nomads piled on the pressure, two more chances went a begging, and when Constabulary broke away and shot wide, a 0-0 draw looked on the cards. But, with 10 minutes to go, and against the run of play, Loach gave the Constabulary the lead. The Nomads continued their onslaught but it was the same story, and to add salt to their wounds, Seels increased the Constabulary’s lead at the end. Report by Robert Morrell | |
