Season 2007-08
Match Report | LEICESTER POLSKA suffered a harsh defeat against Oadby United, and still wait to beat them for the first time. And for the second time this season, not only did a Polska player score a hat trick against Oadby and end up on the losing side, Oadby's Dave Ilnicki again ran riot with another hat trick - meaning 7 of his 11 goals this season have come against the Eagles. Polska had enough chances to win the game, but certainly deserved a draw, so the late defeat was hard to swallow, especially as all of Oadby's shots on target went in! Oadby started the brighter, and Ilnicki got the first on just 4 minutes. However, Darren Wheeler equalised on 15, and despite the referee Ian Danson refusing to give a blatant penalty shortly after for a foul in the box, and also refusing to give a goal that even Oadby admitted had gone over the line, Wheeler eventually gave Polska a half time lead when finishing off a Dave Kendall strike that came back off the crossbar on 43 minutes. Oadby equalised just 18 seconds after half time when they capitalised on a Luke Dyke slip. Wheeler then put Polska in front again on 64 minutes with a fine finish before Scott Morton equalised 4 minutes later despite Dave Kendall clearly being fouled in the build up, which was again ignored by the referee who was below par. Dave Ilnicki then put Oadby 4-3 up on 70 minutes when a harmless effort took a horrendous bobble to leave Jason Hughes stranded. Polska then thought they had salvaged a point when supersub Kyle Thomas saw a speculative shot end up in the net on 80 minutes, but then Ilnicki broke Polska hearts once again with a late winner on 85.
