Season 2010-11
Match Report | LEICESTER POLSKA produced a workmanlike performance to see off West End and progress through to Round Three of the Billy Walton Cup. In their first 6-3 scoreline since February 1998, Polska were on the backfoot at the start of the game, after a spirited start from West End. The visitors' keeper then made a howler on 18 minutes as he failed to control a Radek Gagliewski cross which found the net. West End then punished some indecisive Polska play as Masters equalised on 25 minutes. Savo Wieczorek then rifled home on 28 minutes to punish yet more edgy West End defending, and Mark Inglis then added two quickfire goals on 44 and 45 minutes to give Polska a comfortable 4-1 half time lead. West End then ground themselves back into the game with Carr (59) and Wright (69) making it 4-3 before Inglis completed his hat trick on 74 minutes to make it 5-3. It was his eighth Polska career hat trick, and his first since December 2007. It also now takes him on to 94 goals in 99 appearances. Savo Wieczorek then went on a wonderful mazy run and scored an excellent goal on 76 minutes to finish the game 6-3. Polska stretched their unbeaten run to 7 games, but will face a tough test in the County Cup next week as they bid to keep up their good form, having not been beaten since 8 September. | |
