Season 2010-11
Match Report | There were plenty of tricks but no treats as Polska went down 5-2 to Hinckley League high flyers Sporting Flynns 5-2. A sluggish start from the hosts saw Flynns go ahead on 23 minutes, but Savo Wieczorek equalised 2 minutes later after breaking through the left hand side of the Flynns box to make it 1-1. Polska then got the second half off to a perfect start after Mark Inglis - skippering the side on this 100th appearance - made it 2-1 on 48 minutes - the referee showing good common sense to let the goal stand despite a Flynns handball in the build up. But the visitors then equalised on 53 minutes, and when they went 3-2 up 3 minutes later, Polska were on the ropes. But Polska are nothing if not resilient, and for the next 20 minutes set up camp in the Flynns half. There was plenty of controversy. The referee disallowed a fair looking Artuisz Choina goal for offside, then Mark Inglis had a strong looking penalty shout turned down, whilst only the man in black will know how Flynns escaped punishment after Marek Dziopa suffered a neck high studs up challenge from the visitors. Flynns broke out and caught Polska on the break with 4 minutes to go, then added a highly flattering fifth from a last minute corner to seal the win. Rys Procinski came on for his 304th appearance, showing no ill effects from his harrowing Thursday night training defeat. | |
