Season 2010-11
Match Report | POLSKA lost their first Sunday morning league game of the season, and their fisrt since 8 September, when getting a second half thrashing from Countesthorpe. After riding out the early pressure from the hosts, Polska took the lead against the run of play when Radek Gagliewski scored his fifth of the season on 18 minutes after good work from Mark Inglis. But the Royals equalised just 2 minutes later after a defensive error from Tomasz Tywonczuk. The remainder of the first half was entertaining enough - Chris Eames should have scored but saw his lob over the keeper somehow stay out, whilst stand in keeper Tom Lane pulled off some good saves even though the hosts missed 2 good chances. 1-1 half time. It took just 5 minutes for the Royals to make it 2-1 in the second half, and they then went 3-1 up on 54 minutes, which was effectively game over. The misery was compounded when the score became 4-1 on 59 minutes, then 5-1 on 67 minutes after Polska had long since given up the ghost. Mo Baldeh then had the agony of a missed penalty on 70 minutes - a good save from the home keeper - before actually scoring from a good run down the left to make it 5-2 on 83 minutes. That should have been it, but worse was to come from Polska with the hosts making it 6-2 on 85 minutes and 7-2 on 87 minutes. The goals in the early part of the second half killed off the contest, but Polska did show their opponents far too much respect and must do better against strong opposition. | |
