Season 2010-11
Match Report | POLSKA pulled off a giant killing when taking the scalp of Premiership side Magna 73 Rangers in Round 4 of the Billy Walton Cup. They were a totally different side to the limp 7-2 losers that suffered at the hands of Sunbury last week, and produced their best performance of the season. After opening brightly, Polska suffered a goal against the run of play when conceding after 15 minutes. This came not long after Mo Baldeh's stinging shot was palmed away by the Magna keeper who produced an excellent save. Magna then had a good 20 minute spell, but Polska were in determined mood, despite going in at the break 1-0 down. Polska then dominated the second half. Although Magna broke forward a few times and produced some good football - one chance went awry when Andzrej Podburalcynski scooped a chance off the line - Polska were patient and workmanlike and constantly probed for the equaliser. Just when it looked like they might do everything but score, Mark Inglis popped up in the 92nd minute to equalise and force the game into extra time. Inglis was then on hand again in the 97th minute when scoring his 100th Polska goal - a shot that beat the Magna keeper who dived despairingly to his left. Polska held on fairly comfortably to seal the famous win and produced a great team performance with every player showing great spirit and commitment. | |
